Currently, at 71 years of age, He Jingtang has created his most amazing works. His latest completed designs, the 2008 Beijing Olympics wrestling and badminton venues, have gained public admiration. The soon to be complete China Pavilion will stand as a red oriental crown towering over Shanghai’s Expo Park.
Dongguan is home to one of China’s most famed opera groups - Luo Jiabao Youth Cantonese Opera Troupe. The troupe was founded in 2004 by Luo Jiabao (who created the characteristic forceful and rhythmic tone called xia qiang in Cantonese Opera) and Zheng Quanhui, a retired judge and Yueju amateur. Despite a shrinking fan base, the 300-year-old Yueju was included in UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage and is admired by all who watch a performance.
