Opium War Museum
The Opium War Museum is a specialized museum of ancient Chinese history, it can also be called the Lin Zexu Memorial.
The museum, built in 1985, is located in Humen Town of Dongguan. The attraction covers over 200,000 square meters and comprises the proginal headquarters, the Administration Department of Shajiao Fortress and the Administration Department of Weiyuan Fortress.
The air is thick with history. The museum gates and exhibition building has the same features as the Humen Fortress and reutilizes some of its parts. The site of the Humen Fortress includes pieces of Shajiao, Weiyuan, Jingyuan, Zhenyuan, Nanshan, Shetou and Jiuzai, and the wall remains of the Office of the Guangdong Commander-in-chief of the Navy.
The museum features a comprehensive display of historical facts and artifacts from the Opium War, over 3,000 authentic objects such as cannons, broadswords, spears, opium smoking sets and captured weapons from foreign invaders. The museum is of great value for the study of history and historical relics, as well as for scientific research, education and tourism.

Marine War Museum
Based out of the Weiyuan Fort, this museum shows the history of the China-Britain Marine Battle of the First Opium War. You can find many weapons, battleship equipments, and battle documents here.
The most exciting and interesting part of this museum is the virtual show, presenting the whole process of the marine battle through a multi-media approach. You will be impressed by this and many historic facts and recounts.

Weiyuan Barbette Field
Weiyuan Island, located in Humen Town, was one of the epic battlefields of the Opium War. It is, today, one of the best and largest well-preserved ancient battlefields of China. Heritage here is filled with antique warfare arms, especially the magnificent barbettes and cannons spread throughout the field. Standing in this battlefield, you can picture how the turbulent war times were.
Just beside Weiyuan Barbette, the Humen Bridge stands proud, crossing the mouth of Pearl River and connecting Humen and Panyu. It is one of China’s greatest modern constructions. The bridge structure, seen along with the Weiyuan Barbette Field forms a strong contrast and symbolizing the link between history and future.
It is a place you simply must visit!
